Regulation, Energy & Inner Balance
Meet your workshop leaders
Shaofan Zhu, founder and director of the Shaofan Center, is originally from southern China and has lived in Switzerland since the mid-1980s.
Today, he works with people of all ages who face a wide variety of health challenges. In recent years, Shaofan Zhu has focused his therapeutic practice particularly on the treatment of chronic pain and neurological disorders.
He also specializes in supporting children with congenital or rare neurological disorders as well as complex developmental disorders. In doing so, he combines Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), manual therapy, and the principles of Yangsheng (nurturing life) into a holistic treatment approach.
Customized exercises—including those drawn from Qigong—as well as practical recommendations for daily life (e.g., nutrition) are tailored to the clients’ needs. The seasons and each client’s personal constitution are taken into account in the treatment process. It is important to him to clearly explain these connections and empower his clients to actively participate in shaping the treatment process.
When necessary, he uses Chinese astrology and the I Ching as supplementary tools. For complex issues, he is happy to consult his longtime teacher and renowned Feng Shui expert, Master Gao Fu Quan (from Chengdu, Sichuan Province).
As a Wushu and Taijiquan master (6th Dan), Shaofan Zhu looks back on a successful international career as both a competitor and a coach. Among other achievements, he became European champion in the Taiji fist and sword forms in 2000. He subsequently served as coach of the Swiss national Taijiquan team and, starting in 2007, was responsible for identifying and nurturing young talent in the Swiss national Wushu team. He completed his training in traditional Wushu martial arts under Master Fei Yuliang in Nanjing, who welcomed him into his family in 2003. He now applies his knowledge as a mental coach for various athletes and sports.
He completed his studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Chengdu University and supplemented them with training in myoreflex therapy under Dr. Kurt Mosetter. In 2006, the International Health Qigong Federation (IHQF) appointed him as its official representative in Switzerland.
For about 20 years, Shaofan Zhu has been continuously furthering his training under his Taoist teacher, Master Zhang Mingliang. In 2012, he was appointed by Master Zhang as a representative of the 15th generation of the Emei Dan Dao school of Chinese medicine.
For more information about Master Zhang Mingliang, please visit our website at https://shaofan-zentrum.ch/ or our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/share/1Bb7yAyCR7/.
Shaofan Zhu is deeply grateful for the opportunity to continue learning from his teachers and to maintain close contact with them. He is committed to passing on this knowledge with care, respect for tradition, and a strong sense of responsibility.
