Dance For Health - Tools & Teaching

Modul I: Introduction

“Hidden in the cage of visible matter is the invisible bird of life. Pay attention to it, for it sings your song” - Kabir.

Dance for Health is based on the five transformation phases of traditional Chinese medicine (earth, metal, water, wood and fire) and combines elements of dance and bodywork. The balance created through dance, together with other techniques (e.g. meditation, breathing techniques), promotes the flow of energy. Bodywork, basic knowledge of meridians (TCM) and free dance support the journey into oneself in order to hear the inner “song” more clearly.

Different dance styles and their effect on the energy system are central elements of the training. Basic knowledge of anatomy, with a particular focus on the musculoskeletal system, the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system and various ways of centering are also part of the module. Another focus is on muscle testing: a method for recognizing and releasing energy blockages.

This intensive is the beginning of the Dance for Health training: it is the first of six modules that you can book individually. Here you can experience the basis and working method of Dance for Health, even if you have no previous experience with this method. It can be the beginning of the education, it can be an independent training week,  or simply provide a week of focus on self-awareness - as an opportunity to deepen your self-knowledge through dance and other techniques, and in order to activate and increase your life energy.

Whether you are curious or advanced (or both), this intensive will teach you effective methods to strengthen your health and well-being through movement and inner alignment.

Dance for Health is energy work that gently supports the release of energetic blockages. It is in no way a substitute for a doctor visit, or for medical, psychological or therapeutic treatment.

More information about Dance For Health and Fabiana

Dance For Health

Meet your workshop leaders

Fabiana studied ballet at the National Ballet School in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the Graham and Horton Technique in New York, USA. In 1991 she met Isamel Ivo, with whom she worked and remained artistically connected until his death. After a back injury she embarked on a new path - dance now took on a new role and transformed itself into a means of inner realization and a tool for dissolving energetic blockages.

Her many years of dance experience, her studies in kinesiology together with training in integrative breathing techniques, as well as the influence of Ismael and the experience with the indigenous people of her native country led to the development of her own Dance for Health technique.

Kerstin is a dance researcher, teacher and mentor specializing in somatics and improvisation. Her artistic doctoral research at the University of Auckland, New Zealand explored myofascia in movement. Her most recent work, the matter of fascia, emerged from this research and can be viewed at www.fasciamatters.info. Prior to this she explored creative processes in contact improvisation using embodied cognition.

Kerstin leads the Embodied Myoreflex Practitioner training - in collaboration with Dr Mosetter (Konstanz) and ImPulsTanz – of which the second cycle begins at the end of 2024. Part of the training takes place at Artis Umbria, which she is building as an ecosomatic place for movement and ease (artisumbria.com). She founded IDOCDE with the associated symposium, which today operates as the Lace Symposium at ImPulsTanz. She is mentor for the ImPacT program at ImPulsTanz.

After a degree in natural sciences, a career as a project manager and intensive parental parental leave, Barbara felt a strong urge to delve deeper into various methods of alternative and complementary medicine, which had been with her all her life.

With the help of kinesiology, she worked on and resolved many personal issues and discovered new ways of dealing with life's challenges. As a result, she recognized her strengths and was able to develop her full potential.

After successfully completing her training as a complementary therapist in kinesiology Barbara has now been guiding people for several years, helping them to use their past experiences and learnings as a treasure and resource to lead a life full of joy.

For her work with groups, she uses dance meditation, inspired by Dance for Health, as an effective tool to take people on a moving journey of exploration through the landscapes and and images of their inner world.
